Rachel's Hands

Rachel studied classical violin back in her native Devon (SW England) but she also played in a ceilidh band (pronounced KAY-lee) which she said was a lot more fun.

Number 18 in the Musician's Hands series

Just look at those exquisitely long, graceful fingers. Perfectly captured. Sigh

Sign, indeed, V!

A wonderful focus on the hands here, Snapper.

Lovely. The hands are at complete rest but are ready to cause sound to fill the room. It is a picture about potential. I like the geometry of the vertical bow, angled arms and hands and horizontal violin. All in balance.

Thanks everyone. Bob, it began as a vertical composition (35mm frame) but the balance didn't happen til I cropped it square. A lot of Leica people (most probably) would never do that because Henri Cartier-Bresson didn't but I'm not that much of a traditionalist. Whatever's best for the image is my mantra.

Violinist always have elongated slender fingers. I know Ceilidh's well we have them here all the time, in Celtic or Manx. I now SW Devon well too as so many of my family live there now. Beautiful T shape from violin to bow.
