Three Twitchers*

For the fourth year in a row, I had the pleasure of participating in Gabriola's annual bird count which took place yesterday. My teammates and I covered The Commons and the Dogwood Crescent area. Can't speak for the others but the highlight for me was the moment that a pair of trumpeter swans flew directly over us heading south, probably for Coats Marsh.

New Roof for the Goat Barn

Thanks to an anonymous donor, the goat barn at The Commons gets a new roof. Work began this morning when a crew of about twenty volunteers showed up to remove the old shingles and prep the building for its new tin hat.

He looks like a bluesman in this photo but actually, Tim Harrison is a folk singer par excellence. He runs a weekly song circle every Monday night at the Old Crow Cafe so locals, check it out for live tunes on a weeknight.
