Happy Birthday Flash!

Flash turned ten today and his humans threw him a little garden party. Do you think he had a good time?

Captain Haddock

This year's Tin Tin Festival was today at The Roxy and my buddy Fred played Captain Haddock in one of the skits. To see a snap of the Thompson Twins at last year's event, click here.

Little Wheels, Big Wheels

There's a cycling advocacy movement afoot on Gabriola. The goal is to achieve a safer interface between cyclists and vehicles. At the moment, there's not much infrastructure in place aside from the bike lanes on Berry Point Road so we've got a ways to go. But hey, ya gotta start somewhere right?

Valdy's Larrivee

Jean Larrivee is perhaps Canada's best-known guitar maker. Valdy has played this cutaway model for many years now and it's one of those instruments that you wish could talk 'cause you know it's got some tales to tell.

Valdy is a living legend legend of Canadian folk music so when he came to The Roxy last month with percussionist Jim Salmon, tickets went fast. And what a fine show it was. It's always inspiring to watch a master at work!
