ABC Wednesday > C is for Cabin Fever

We know several Gabriolans who deal with Cabin Fever by going to Mexico this time of year. We're toughing it out here at home and it's not so bad.

I posted a very similar photo back in December but I like this one much better. If you look at the earlier post, you'll see the highlights are harsh and washed out and just plain unattractive. But in today's image, creamy, smooth, even, beautiful are the adjectives that come to mind. This is why I love film. I'm sure high-end DSLRs (like Bob C's Canon 5D) can probably replicate this but not so my point-and-shoots so I'll take the Leica every time *if* I have time to wait for the film to be processed.

Leica M3, 50mm Summicron, Ilford XP-2Super, 1/60s @ f2

Well, there's something to be said for that older picture, too. There is a much sharper inside/outside dichotomy. This one though is quieter, more peaceful. The snowy woods are too vague to reach out and touch.

Oh, and to have lenses that go to f 2 without taking out a second mortgage! There's a real advantage of film over digital.

Thanks to you and Mrs. S. for your kind comments today. Please tell your wife that use any of my shots for wallpaper for as long as she pleases.

Great shot and pretty soon cabin fever will be gone.

I agree with about the image, but I still have a soft spot for the harshness of the other too. Quiet comtemplation on each.

I've enjoyed looking at your pictures and posts. We have a cabin up Powell Lake and don't get cabin fever even in the worst of winter. We came from Los Angeles that has no seasons, so we revel in the opportunity to see things like fall leaves, rain and snow. We don't mind the cold = but yes, an occasional sunny day does perk us up. - Margy
