Changing Of The Guard

Our little island in the stream, population 4000, has not one not two but three newspapers: The Gabriola Sounder, The Flying Shingle and the newest one, Island Central. Each publication has its dedicated fans but Mrs. Snapper and I don't want to miss out on anything so we read all three. The Sounder changed hands last week so welcome to the new owners who have relocated here from Alberta.

Well Snap, looks like you folks in Gabriola are news hounds for sure. ( I was going to say, "Reading fools", but thought better of it.) They should hire you to take their photos for them.

Hey Virginia, Gabriolans are definitely readers. Our library has the largest usage per capita of any branch in the entire Vancouver Island Regional Library system! And while it's not a regular thing, I have had a couple of images published in The Sounder.

3 newspapers! W have 1 island, the rest UK.Doe this make for a more balanced news service I wonder. I foten find the one and only local newspaper has a very biased veiwpoint about everything.

Yes babooshka, it does make for more balanced coverage. Each paper has it's own viewpoint (hence it's own set of fans) and some stories don't even make it into one or the other. The 3rd paper is new so we don't know just yet exactly what it's POV is/will be. The different perspectives fuels our desire to read all three.
