The Summer People Have Gone
The summer people have gone, the kids are back in school and fall is in the air on Gabriola. The nights are starting to get crisp but the days remain warm and sunny, perfect for a stroll on a deserted beach.
The photo gives indeed that end-of-summer-back-to-school-look, which I like in it. Fresh in the morning and evening but still warm during the day. Crisper skies and long shadows. Ideal for photography!
The boats look abandoned, not ready for winter (although your winters aren't so bad). This has quite a lonely feeling. Again, I think the picture is more enjoyable in the bigger size you get when you click the original image on the blog page.
Interesting point ST. These boats are where they'll stay for the winter which is indeed quite mild. Actually, we have the mildest climate in all of Canada. Also, I put a note on my front page to "click the images to enlarge" so hopefully more folks will do just that. Cheers!
Hi Snapper, glad you stopped by. I took several photos of the seagulls in that parking lot and I plan on putting them up on my other blog sometime in the next few days. Your boats look lovely, and living in a tourist town I can really appreciate the sentiment you're expressing here. It's a great time of the year.

This photo says it all. I love the sun and shadows on your boats. Color was perfect for this one.

Your use of the light here is inspiring, Snapper. I can almost smell that salt ...
Beautiful light - thanks for leaving the color in.
A great autumnal feel to this shot, beautiful shadows, and a lovely warm feel overall, excellent shot.
