Warm And Fuzzy

Posting this one today not so much because it's the best photo in the queue but because it ties in to the discussion we've been having. I looked at in in B&W and it was nice but not as "warm" (duh!) so there ya go. In my Tri-X days, I wouldn't have even thought about it which is why I'm enjoying this colour challenge and digital photography in general. It's good to keep growing don't you think?

I love this choice! You and I share a lot of the same thoughts about photography and I can identify with you on your difficulty letting go of the Tri-X. (It's hard, I know, especially when those little rolls fit so well in a closed fist!)

I love how much this photograph glows. You can almost feel that purring cat and you know that someone soon is going to snatch up that guitar and start strumming. In b&w it would have been a lovely study in curve and texture but it wouldn't have felt as alive.

Well done!

the b&w would have totally missed that butterscotchy glow. and you've got me doing some b&w/color experimenting too, so thanks for the inspiration. I have no previous experience in developing photos (except to send out to Walgreen's)so I'm kind of a blank slate there.

Beautiful picture. I like the warm cozy light.

Think the title does the image an injustice, Snapper. Putting it on an "Oprah" category where it simply does not belong!

You have two disparate elements here, joined by colour and the fact that we humans instinctively hear the sounds in our head from each as soon as we see the image.

Texture is the other thing that I get from this composition. The fur of the cat but also the folds of the throwover.

Like KVG, you have me doing my own experimenting - for which I thank you. I have starting moving things around where possible in my setups to try to achieve different outcomes. Such a wonderful exercise to have embarked upon.

I was a BW girl forever when I used film. Now I like to check out the picture first and play with the monotones and color. The picture usually tells you right away what it should be. I am a huge fan of the warm tones. In fact a teacher asked me if I knew about white balance because my photo was so golden.
I assured her I just liked that feel, but now I think maybe I might be overdoing it. Yours is perfect in my book.

Call me a hypocrite and beat me soundly. I said I am drawn to cool over warm then you hit me with this. It's adorable, but not sickly sweet. I agree with Julie about the opposing textures really coming to the fore in this and that would be lost in mono. or cool tones.

It's been an interesting week and I've really enjoyed bouncing ides around and re evaluating my own ideas on my usual colour themes I would graviate towards.

Oh, I just love this photo. And the warmth is what is so inviting about it. This would make a fantastic wall-hanging. Well-chosen!
