Artworks

Gabriola is known as the Island of the Arts and it's a well-deserved moniker. The epicentre of all things creative is Artworks in Folklife Village which is run with style and a smile by Kathy Ramsey. Today's photo is the guest book and a self-portrait at the recent Clint McCartney show in the upstairs gallery space.

Very nice composition and balance with the conical drop light, unusual picture, open book and (I think) fountain pen. It's much easier to see the details when you click to the big size of the photo. At that scale, the painting feels threatening.

I am obviously on the wrong island. Compelling image, the photographer's interpretaion of the very disturbing artist's work. A image I will want to re visit, just to unsettle me.

I do like this piece of art...and the one that is the subject of this photo. Both are very thought-provoking. You have composed this shot very well, with the surrounding environment adding to, rather than detracting from, the artwork at the center. And that art piece...I really do like it. I'd like to see and examine it in person.
