Sky and Firs

Yesterday was the summer solstice and it was a very long day indeed here on Gabriola. It looks like mid-afternoon, but Sky and Firs was actually snapped at 7:30 in the evening. I'm not sure when it got dark but there was still light enough to read a book in the backyard at 10pm.

Wow, what a spectacular sky you have captured in this. Nice work!

Thanks for you visit to my blog and for your kind comment.

Your part of Canada must be further north than my part of Australia is south. Even at the height of summer it is never light in Australia much later than 8:30pm - certainly not light enough to read by.

Your perspective on the firs is very satisfying.

We had some guests here from Sweden yesterday and they said that in the northern part of their country, it never gets totally dark at all on the summer solstice. She said they have a big party and most people don't even go to bed til the next day. We asked how they do it and she replied "Just have another shot or two!"

I missed the fact that the summer solstice came by. But your picture is bit of solitude and beauty in the middle (make that beginning) of a hot, hot, hot summer.
