Fundraisers
These two gentlemen (David Aliaga L and Ken Capon R) organized last night's benefit concert for Chilean fisherman which raised over $1700 for two tiny Gabriola-size islands devastated by the recent earthquake and tsunami in that region. These folks lost everything and their government will not be able to help them very much, at least not any time soon. To find out more and/or make a donation, click HERE

Boat Out Of Water
This boat sits on its trailer on a street in my neighbourhood. I've walked by it dozens of times but yesterday morning the light was just right.

Green
This beautifully backlit flag has nothing whatsoever to do with Saint Patrick (who by the way was English by birth) or Ireland but hey, at least it's green.

No Gardening Today
This morning's forecast called for rain mixed with snow. Well, so far it's been all snow so I guess I won't be working in the garden today.

Mystery Fence
Not quite sure what this very short stretch of fence is supposed to do but it looks cool in the late afternoon light.

Hollywood!
Here we have one of the many glamourous attendees at last night's Oscars party at The Roxy. The event was a fundraiser for the Gabriola Health Care Auxiliary.

Sneakers and Gumboots
The weather was glorious today and gardeners were out in droves. Me, I hauled two truckloads of horse manure followed by one of the best showers I've ever taken.

Protected Pathway
This beautiful path is part of a 7+ hectare property that has recently been protected via a permanent conservation covenant which assures that it will remain in it's natural, undeveloped state. Hats off to the landowners for making this bold choice for us and future generations!

Curry Anyone?
Since Suzy's is for sale, folks are wondering what the next incarnation of the restaurant might be. I'm hoping for a curry shop.
