Sunday Signage > Crowder Country

The Conservatives won a majority in the recent federal election but they didn't get many votes on Gabriola. The turnout here looked pretty much just like this photo: NDP all the way.

The navy was in port this week. I waved but they didn't wave back.

Ballerina At Berry Point

A troupe of dancers from Nanaimo were over for some sightseeing and one of them struck a pose for her friends (who were off to the right snapping away). I was in the right place at the right time with my trusty Trip35 in my coat pocket.

Return

I took a month off. Not on purpose really, it just happened. I've become disenchanted with digital cameras but the instant gratification they provide is the very thing that makes a daily photo blog possible. I'm shooting film almost exclusively these days and as of now, I do have a nice queue of pictures so I'm happy to resume GDP. Apologies to all who have missed the posts.

Today's photograph was taken over the weekend in the parking lot of Village Foods.

Peggy Seeger

This past Monday and Tuesday, Gabriolans got a rare musical treat. Activist and folk music icon Peggy Seeger played a pair of shows to sold-out houses. The vintage Martin 0-18 was a gift from brother Mike who passed away in 2009.

Chasing The Light

Lucky is the Gabriola gardener who has a nice open sunlit lot. Most of us have to make do with what few rays filter through the trees for a few hours a day.
