Himalayan Festival 2010
This evening's 7th annual Himalayan Festival was a grand success with a big turnout, a great meal (generously provided by Village Foods) and two excellent documentary films, The Forgotten Himalaya and The Shining Spirit. Hats off to for Nick and Val Halpin for making it happen.

ABC Wednesday > W is for Wheels
These wheels are, in my opinion, the future of transportation. Designed by Gabriola's own Georgi Georgiev, this tricycle has electric assist, ample load-carrying capacity, a low center of gravity and unlike any other trike in the world, it's back wheels won't leave the ground when taking a fast corner. Who needs a car? The smiling rider is my friend Heide Brown: World traveler, tireless volunteer at The Commons and direct descendant of the American abolitionist John Brown.

Two Years
I launched GDP on June 18th, 2008 which makes today a birthday. If you're on the island, please join us this evening at The Roxy for my second anniversary slideshow: I'll be screening all the pictures from the past year with instrumental soundtrack by Gabriola musicians. If there's sufficient interest, I'll show year one as well. Admission is free but donations are welcome with all proceeds going to People For A Healthy Community.

Green
It hasn't been a particularly warm spring but the gardens are producing already nonetheless.
Blogspot was down last night so I missed a post for the first time in the nearly two years that GDP has been online. And speaking of two years, if you're on Gabriola, please join us at The Roxy on June 18th for the second anniversary slideshow with soundtrack by local musicians. 7pm and admission is free with donations gratefully accepted and all proceeds going to benefit PHC.
